Trina the Diplodocus

Trina was a Diplodocus. Scientists told her she was the only dinosaur left on earth. She was found on an island four months ago and brought to the dinosaur research complex. There she had ten hectares of forest, water, hills and open field to enjoy. There were only two rules at the complex. She couldnt run because shed cause an earthquake, and she couldnt hurt people because the government would lock her up as dangerous.
Several scientists had wanted to lock Trina up when they first found her. But Dr. Isaac Hiroaki had convinced them not to.
"They all watched Jurassic Park." said Isaac later, as if it explained everything.
"Trina!" called a voice. Trina turned her head around. It was Dr. Kevin ORiely, another scientist at the complex. Kevin was riding towards her in a jeep. He stopped and got out. Trina put her head down to the ground so they could talk.
"Ive got great news!" said Kevin. "A ship sent us a message a month ago. They claim to have seen a Diplodocus on an island in the Pacific, near where we found you."
"Thats great!" said Trina. The scientists had taught Trina how to talk on the way back from the island.
"Our dinosaur transport ship has been expanded so it can hold two dinosaurs." said Kevin.
"You mean Im coming with you?" asked Trina.
"You remember how hard it was for us to communicate with you when we first found you? Well, were hoping youll be able to act as translator for us." said Kevin.
"When do we leave?" asked Trina.
"Tomorrow morning. I have to do some last minute preparations, so I gotta go!" said Kevin, climbing into his jeep and driving off.

As soon as she woke up the next morning, Trina went to the research station.
"Im here!" said Trina, looking through the window. Isaac came out.
"Well, arent we the early bird, its only six thirty!" said Isaac.
"Oops." said Trina. "I think Ill go have breakfast."
"Good idea." said Isaac. Just then Kevin came out yawning.
"Good morning, Trina. Good morning, Isaac." greeted Kevin.
"Good morning, Kevin." said Trina. "I was just going to go have breakfast."
"Trina, can you try to be a bit quieter next time? Everybody who isnt up, is lying awake in bed. Except Kelly and Frank, but we all know they sleep like rocks." said Kevin.
"Well be ready to go in one to two hours" said Isaac. "So go roam, but stick near the station."
"OK." said Trina.
*****
They left at eight oclock that morning to go to the boat. It took two hours to get Trina comfortably in the boat, and two days to reach the island. After they arrived it took three hours to get Trina out because they didnt have a loading ramp. When they finally got Trina out she started making weird sounds. Soon they could see another Diplodocus coming towards them. Trina stopped making the weird sounds. She started making different sounds and saying a few English words.
"So does he want to come?" asked Frank impatiently. Trina looked at the other Diplodocus.
"Yeths." said the other Diplodocus. "Yeths, yeth, yes." As the scientists came up to the new Diplodocus, Trina started making some more sounds and saying their names. It took them three hours to get Trina back on the boat, and five more to get the new Diplodocus on board. By then the sun had gone down. They decided to stay anchored at the island overnight because they were too tired to try and steer the boat.
On the way back to the complex, Kevin, and another scientist named Albert, took turns reading from a book of boys names until the new Diplodocus decided on Mike.
When they got back to the complex the scientists left Trina and Mike alone.
Six months passed and the scientists barely ever saw Trina and Mike except for checkups. One morning Mike came to the station looking as worried as a Diplodocus could look.
"Have you seen Trina since yesterday?" asked Mike.
"No, we thought she was with you." said Kelly.
"She was with me last night, but when I woke up this morning she wasnt there." explained Mike.
"Why dont you go look for her? If you dont find her by sundown this evening, well all go out and look for her tomorrow." said Kelly.
"OK." said Mike, and he went off to look for Trina. Kelly ran inside to tell the other scientists the news. Two days later, the scientists began to worry.
"We havent seen Mike for two days, Trina for three! They always check in every evening to let us know theyre alright." said Isaac. "I say we go out and look for them."
"I agree." said Kelly.
"Me too." said Frank. Albert and Alex nodded.
"Maybe we should wait just a LITTLE longer." said Kevin. He had been holding everybody back.
"Come on Kevin, we havent seen either of them for two days, we could have a case of dinonapping here, and you saying Maybe we should wait just a LITTLE longer?!" said Alex, exasperated. "Were going out to look for them today, whether you approve or not."
"Youre forgetting that I have the keys to the jeep." said Kevin dangling the keys. Alex tried to grab them, but Kevin put the keys back into his pocket.
"Then well walk." said Isaac. "Right?" Nobody said anything. "Alright. You win. Well wait until three oclock."
"Five." said Kevin.
"Three thirty" said Isaac.
"Four"
"Alright."
*****
At four oclock that afternoon the scientists went out to look for Trina and Mike. Alex, Isaac, Kevin and Kelly went in the jeep, while Albert and Frank stayed at the station. They only went a little way into the forest when a baby Diplodocus walked up to them, cocked its head, and said:
"Scientists. Scientistsscientistsscientistsscientists." and then ran off . Kevin slowed down the jeep and followed the baby to a clearing. In the clearing were five baby Diplodocuses, Trina and Mike. Mike was the first to notice them.
"Hi!" Mike said. "Sorry we didnt come and tell you, but the babies were taking all our time. What took you so long to come look for us?" everybody glared at Kevin.
"I thought that this might be the case, and that you would want to be left alone." said Kevin, shrugging his shoulders.
"Oh well, were here now. Anything we can help you with?" asked Isaac.
"Um, not really." said Mike. "Other than babysit, and I think youre a bit too small for that."
"Well, wed better get going then." said Kevin, starting the jeep. They went back to the station and told Frank and Albert, who immediately wanted to go and see the babies.
